Retail Infrastructure Division 05 of 10

Independent electronicsretail, built to your format.

Repair centers, accessory stores, multi-carrier locations, and hybrid formats — developed for operators who are not tied to a single carrier programme and need the margin mix to work on its own.

An independent store lives or dies on margin mix, not on footfall.

A carrier-branded location earns on activations and is told what to stock. An independent location earns on accessories, repair labour, device resale, and activations in whatever proportion the trade area supports — and has to choose that proportion before the fit-out is designed, because the bench, the counter, and the stockroom are all sized by it.

Connex develops independent formats starting from the economics. We model the margin mix for the trade area first, then design the space, the supply, and the staffing around the mix rather than around a template.

Capabilities

What the division does.

01

Format selection

Repair-led, accessory-led, multi-carrier, or hybrid, chosen against modelled margin mix for the specific trade area.

02

Repair bench design

Bench layout, tooling, ESD provision, parts storage, and ticket flow sized to the repair volume the format assumes.

03

Accessory merchandising

Planogram, category depth, price laddering, and attach positioning built around the device mix you actually sell.

04

Multi-carrier activation

Activation routes set up across more than one carrier so the location is not exposed to a single programme change.

05

Supply and parts

Device, accessory, and repair-parts supply established through our own distribution channel before opening.

06

Systems and technicians

POS, ticketing, and inventory systems installed, and technicians recruited and trained to the bench spec.

Process

Five stages, each with an output you can see.

  • Format and economics

Margin mix modelled for the trade area, and the format chosen against the model rather than against preference.

  • Site and lease

Site secured against the format's space requirement, with lease terms negotiated in your name.

  • Build and bench

Fit-out, fixtures, and repair bench built to the spec the format requires, through to inspection sign-off.

  • Supply and systems

Device, accessory, and parts supply established; POS, ticketing, and inventory systems installed and tested.

  • Open and train

Technicians and counter staff trained, opening stock in place, and the margin mix reviewed against the model.

Format economics

The fit-out is sized by the margin mix, not the other way round.

Bench positions, counter length, accessory linear footage, and stockroom depth are all derived from the modelled mix for that trade area. Where the model says repair carries the location, the bench gets the space. Where it says accessories do, the wall does. The model is written down and reviewed against actuals after opening.

FAQ

Questions operators actually ask.

Wireless development is built around a carrier programme and its standards. This is built around your own margin mix, with activation as one revenue line among several rather than the main one.

Yes. Conversion is usually a bench and merchandising problem rather than a construction one, so it moves faster than a new build.

If the format is repair-led, yes, and recruitment starts during the build rather than after it. Counter-only formats can open on retail staff.

Through our distribution channel, established as a standing supply line before opening rather than sourced per ticket.

That is the point of the format. Activation routes are set up across multiple carriers so a single programme change does not decide your year.

Have a site, or just a format in mind?

Trade area and target format is enough for us to model the margin mix and come back with a fit-out spec.
